The gift of a day

Today was a gift. We woke to several new inches of snowfall and chilly temperatures that caused schools all over the county to close their doors. Since dh works at a school, he got to sleep in and eat breakfast with us, though he did eventually go in to work awhile. Both of our evening meetings were canceled and we enjoyed a long, relaxing evening of board games, storybooks, and singing along with the guitar.

I had been feeling stressed about today, and the whole week, really--there were just too many things going on. So I am taking this snow day as a gift from God, an unexpected blessing and a reminder that in spite of all our careful planning, we are not really in control of our schedules.

And we're greedy enough to hope for another one tomorrow! :)

You can say that again Jo! We've enjoyed a few snow days here as well. There's nothing better than HAVING to stop for a while in the middle of a busy week. (God sure knows what we need.) "James and the Giant Peach" has quickly become a favorite book recently due to our at home days.
